instead of cutting all state workers pays cut out the benefits that the senators, represenatives governor & lt gov. get. such as paid for cars and gas, paid for health ins. paid for retirement plan, paid for health club use. Everyone I know has to use their own car to and from work, pay their own gas and maintain it. Buy thier own luches and coffee. Pay their part of their health insurance and pension plans. Most places don't even have pensons anymore it is a 401K plan and you have to contribute to it first and your employer matches it up to a certain percent. I would think that would be a good start showing that they are also trying to cut corners.
I'm against cutting lawmakers pay. You have to keep your lawmakers honest because they are subject to great temptation.
Yes, cutting state salaries is at least a start in the right direction. What we really need is pension reform. State workers will kick about their salary reduction, but the medical benefits, vacation, holidays, and sick days, plus their pensions, more than make up for the lower salary. When state workers start leaving for the private sector (and I would be surprised if this measure precipitates any resignations) then we will know that we are on the right track.
I watched as gov Malloy asked the unions for give backs and they did so they could their jobs. As a tax payer of Ct.I can say thank you to them, but they don't need any more pay cuts its not right. I just read an article in the news paper about how the state is paying 2 million dollars to put in a boat ramp at Bantum Lake when there is one there already in the town of Morris and all the town wanted was $25,000 for upkeep for the next three years. The state Reps & Sens need to look at where money is being spent, they need to look at the big picture cutting peoples pay is not the answer. All you will do is hurt the people of the state of CT. The people that represent us (REPS & SENS) need to work for free they don,t do much everytime I see an news story showing the the state capitol it seems there is a lot of empty seats. Most of these people are Lawers and business people who have already made there way in life and you truely want to be a public servant do it for free. Let me say they should get medical benefits and as for retirement the same as the rest of the state Social Security who are you to get something better than the rest of the people of the state. I have never seen Gov. Malloy out on a highway working with cars going by at 60MPH or any other state officail.
If the unions get a revote why can't we get a revote for our government
