Rep. Larson: protect senior benefits

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Connecticut Rep. John Larson says health care reforms passed by Democrats have guaranteed access to affordable health care, while Republican proposals threaten it.

Larson, chairman of the House Democratic caucus, urged Democratic National Convention delegates Wednesday to fight to protect hard-earned access to health care and support for the elderly.

The East Hartford congressman said his father was a fireman at the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft plant who took pride in working for a better future. He said his mother has faced several illnesses with courage and now has round-the-clock care for dementia, provided by private and federal benefits his father earned.

He said GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney and running mate Paul Ryan's proposals would weaken those benefits, while President Barack Obama introduced savings to protect the programs that keep many seniors out of poverty.

What Obamacare does is make America a welfare nation and hastens the demise of senior citizens who are on Medicare and depend on their Social Security to try to survive in today's economy . With the cut of $700 billion from Medicare, hospitals, doctor's, and all other medical provider's will be paid even less than they are being paid now. The result will be that doctor's will be less likely to accept and treat Medicare patients - hospitals less likely to admit a Medicare patient who comes to the E.R. in acute distress -it's already happening - acutely ill Medicare patients are treated in the E.R and sent home the same day . If they are admitted and discharged a few days later, the hospital won't readmit them if they come back "too soon" because Medicare will hit them with a hefty fine ! Instead of removing the barriers that cripple small business owners and helping businesses to grow thus creating jobs for the younger people Obama has chosen to put millions on Medicaid and put the burden of paying for their care on the shoulders of the working class poor and senior citizens . Changes to Obamacare MUST be made if American citizens are to survive.

Yeah right....I don't believe for a second that Obamacare will be paying for seniors that are in John Larson's mothers position. Just look at England....frightening. However people who do enjoy federal and state benefits get far more than the rest of us folks in the private sector. He mentions that his mothers care is partly paid for with federal benefits...the rest us of us would just go bankrupt. Healthcare is a major problem this country but Obamacare will just make it worse because he is taking 700 billion from Medicare ( people who are old, obviously have more health problems) and giving it to people who are younger and don't have insurance. Younger usually means healthier. How will this help seniors like Larson's mother ???

Just more double talk and voters are going to have to use their own common sense - we don't have any in our government.
