NE states to split $50B in Sandy relief

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- President Obama is set to sign a multi-billion dollar Hurricane Sandy relief package and those dollars can't come soon enough for folks along the shoreline hit hard by the Superstorm.

The 50 billion dollars will be split up among many Northeast states and the funds are targeted for rebuilding houses as well as reimbursing towns for overtime and cleanup expenses.

It is unclear just how soon those dollars will make it from Washington to Connecticut communities.

"Generally speaking although it's slow, we get the money they promised," said Gov. Malloy.

The biggest chunk of money is 16 billion dollars for Housing and Urban Development Department community block grants.
