HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)-- State Senator Beth Bye is responding to critics who say she was being disrespectful during one of the public hearings at the Capitol, earlier this week.
She was on Facebook and there are photos that have been making the rounds online. The shots were taken during Monday's hearing on proposed changes to the state's gun laws.
Senator Bye says she wasn't doing anything wrong.
"I mean, I think some of this is a misunderstanding of how Facebook is used. I use it to update my constituents and I was in the room for 18 hours and I'm not even on the committee," said Bye.
Bye says she has listened carefully to both sides in the gun-control debate.
