Conn. officials to seek more federal storm money

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut officials plan to seek additional federal reimbursement for storm-related expenses incurred by the state and municipalities during the recent blizzard.

They say their request is justified given the enormity of the storm, which left up to 3 feet of snow in some places.

Starting next week, state and federal officials will begin the process of collecting information from cities and towns about their costs. Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection spokesman Scott DeVico says that data will be included in an application for a major disaster declaration by the federal government, which could lead to more federal funds.

Given the impact of the storm, DeVico said the state is warranted to receive the additional reimbursement.

A total price tag for the storm has not yet been determined.
