2nd suspicious sent letter to Conn. governor

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the second suspicious letter in a week sent to Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's office.

Andrew Doba, Malloy's spokesman, said a staff person in the governor's office in the state Capitol opened a letter containing white powder on Monday afternoon. State Capitol Police were notified and a hazardous materials team removed the letter from Malloy's policy office on the fourth floor.

A similar letter was found on Feb. 19 after Malloy's office received a phone call threatening that anthrax was contained inside. That letter was found in the mailroom at the Legislative Office Building and wasn't found to be hazardous.

Malloy was out-of-state at the National Governor's Association meeting in Washington, D.C. on Monday.
