Former Winchester town finance director arrested

(WTNH) -- The former finance director for the Town of Winchester has ben arrested on larceny charges, state police announced Friday.

Henry Centrella, Jr., 58, was arrested without incident at his Gilbert Ave. home.

The investigation began in January, when state police detectives were called in to investigate possible misappropriation of funds after a 2012 audit found "several financial discrepancies" in town financial records.

"This criminal investigation encompassed the period from January 2008 until November 2012. State Police Detectives determined that during this time period, over $2 million dollars was unaccounted for," police said in a news release announcing the arrest.

Centrella was arrested and charged with five counts of larceny. He was held on $100,000 bond pending an appearance in court.
