Malloy to address gay youth conference

Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, a longtime supporter of gay rights, is speaking to students at what's being billed as the largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth conference in the country.

Malloy is scheduled to appear at the University of Connecticut on Friday morning for the opening session of the two-day event, organized by True Colors, a Hartford-based nonprofit group that advocates for youth.

True Colors works with schools, social service agencies and various community organizations to make sure the needs of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth are being met.

Malloy is scheduled to give the opening remarks for the conference. Other state officials are also scheduled to be on hand, including State Comptroller Kevin Lembo, and the state's child advocate and child welfare commissioner.
