Occupy Hartford block I-84 ramp

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH/AP) — Occupy Hartford protestors were arrested for sitting in front of the I-84 entrance ramp.

Many participants showed up to the ramp. It's among events at sites nationwide to mark the two-month anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement's start.

Matt O'Connor, a labor organizer whose union is part of a coalition of Hartford participants, says demonstrating at the I-84 ramp off Broad Street is a way to widely express their concerns about what they see as corporate greed and economic inequality.

Connecticut State Capitol police say Hartford officers have informed them that Broad Street will be closed near the ramp before and during the event, and that traffic delays are likely.

The scene of the protests in Hartford is fairly sedentary; police are just pulling up to people in their van and arresting them.

Hartford Occupy protests are non-violent by design.
